Time - Resolved Diffusion Tomographic 2 D and 3 D Imaging in Highly Scattering Turbid Media

چکیده
A method for imaging objects in highly scattering turbid media. According to one embodiment of the invention, the method involves using a plurality of intersecting source1 detectors sets and time-resolving equipment to generate a plurality of time-resolved intensity curves for the diffusive component of light emergent from the medium. For each of the curves, the intensities at a plurality of times are then inputted into the following inverse reconstruction algorithm to form an image of the medium: 2531769-71, AUg. 1991.

متن کاملThree-Dimensional Radiative Transfer Tomography for Turbid Media
The photon distribution, as a function of position, angle, and time, is computed using the analytical cumulant solution of the Boltzmann radiative transfer equation (RTE). A linear forward model for light propagation in turbid media for three-dimensional (3-D) optical tomography is formed based on this solution. The model can be used with time resolved, continuous wave (CW), and frequency-domai...
متن کاملImaging very-low-contrast objects in breastlike scattering media with a time-resolved method.
An investigation was performed of the effectiveness of a time-resolved method for imaging very-low-contrast features embedded in highly scattering media. Experiments employed slabs of breastlike material into which were inserted small cylindrical objects having either a scattering or an absorption coefficient of 4, 2, 1.5, and 1.1 times greater than the surrounding medium. An attempt was made t...
متن کاملAnalytical solutions for time-resolved fluorescence lifetime imaging in a turbid medium such as tissue.
An analytical solution is developed to quantify a site-specific fluorophore lifetime perturbation that occurs, for example, when the local metabolic status is different from that of surrounding tissue. This solution may be used when fluorophores are distributed throughout a highly turbid media and the site of interest is embedded many mean scattering distances from the source and the detector. ...
متن کاملInvestigation of two-layered turbid media with time-resolved reflectance.
Light propagation in two-layered turbid media that have an infinitely thick second layer is investigated with time-resolved reflectance. We used a solution of the diffusion equation for this geometry to show that it is possible to derive the absorption and the reduced scattering coefficients of both layers if the relative reflectance is measured in the time domain at two distances and if the th...
